What Renter Security bases its recommendations on, and what it does not claim.
What we base recommendations on
We do not currently test products hands-on. Our guides are based on manufacturer documentation, published reviews and user reports, which each article links to. If we start testing products ourselves, we will say which ones and how here and in the article.
When we have not tested a product
Many of our guides compare products we have not used ourselves. In those cases we rely on manufacturer specifications, published reviews and user reports, link to them, and say so in the article.
How we compare products
We compare products on what matters for the reader's situation: fit and compatibility, installation, reliability, ongoing costs and support. We point out trade-offs rather than naming a single winner for everyone.
Keeping guides up to date
We review guides when products, prices or availability change and update the date when we do.
